Steering Committee
The Steering Committee plans  the work of the Association.

 WHAT AND WHO?
The Steering Committee is a group of volunteers that plans most of the work of the Association. It consists of up to eleven persons, four of whom are the Association's officers. Duties of the officers are explained in Article V of the bylaws. Details about the work of the Committee appear on the page about Conducting Business.

Committee officers for the 2023-24 year were elected at the annual meeting of the general membership, which took place on October 12, 2023. They are:

NOTE: Members Darrin Hanson and LaTonya Rogers were carried over from the previous year but as of November 21, 2023 they had resigned.

 JOINING THE COMMITTEE
Anyone may join the Committee at any time, but a person is formally recognized as a member when elected at the Association's general membership meeting, which is held annually. Upon election, the person's term of service begins and it lasts until the end of the following general membership meeting, or until a successor is named.

If a person joins the Committee between general membership meetings, he or she is considered an interim member until formally elected as described above. Working as an interim member does not count against one's yearly service. In all other respects an interim member has all the privileges and obligations of an elected member.

LENGTH OF SERVICE
There are no limitations of how long a person may serve on the Committee. However, officers are encouraged to limit their time in any one office to three consecutive terms. This rule took effect in 2018, when the bylaws were changed. (Before then the bylaws mandated a limit of three consecutive terms for officers.)

A requirement for being an officer of the Committee is to be a supporting member of the Association.
